چکیده

We calculate the scalar gravitational and matter perturbations in the context of slow-roll inflation with multiple scalar fields, that take values on a (curved) manifold, to first order in slow roll. For that purpose a basis for these perturbations determined by the background dynamics is introduced and multiple field slow-roll functions are defined. To obtain analytic solutions to first order, the scalar perturbation modes have to be treated in three different regimes. Consistency of the various approximations fixes their matching times. Multiple field effects in the gravitational potential are due to the rotation of the basis and to the particular solution caused by the coupling to the field perturbation perpendicular to the field velocity. They can contribute even to leading order if the corresponding multiple field slow-roll function is sizable during the last 60 e-folds. The analytical results are illustrated and checked numerically with the example of a quadratic potential. PACS number: 98.80.Cq

Amplification of tachyonic perturbations at super-Hubble scales

In the slow-roll inflationary scenario, the amplitude of the curvature perturbations approaches a constant value soon after the modes leave the Hubble radius. However, relatively recently, it was shown that the amplitude of the curvature perturbations induced by the canonical scalar field can grow at super-Hubble scales if there is either a transition to fast roll inflation or if inflation is i...

Primordial perturbations from inflation

I review the standard analysis of adiabatic scalar and tensor perturbations produced by slow-roll inflation driven by a single scalar field, before going on to discuss recent work on the role of non-adiabatic modes during and after inflation. Isocurvature perturbations correlated with adiabatic modes may be produced during multi-field inflation and would give valuable information about the phys...

Cosmic microwave background bispectrum and inflation

We derive an expression for the non-Gaussian cosmic microwave background ~CMB! statistic I l 3 defined recently by Ferreira, Magueijo, and Górski in terms of the slow-roll-inflation parameters e and h . This result shows that a nonzero value of I l 3 in COBE would rule out single-field slow-roll inflation. A sharp change in the slope of the inflaton potential could increase the predicted value ...

The Cosmic Microwave Background Bispectrum and Inflation

We derive an expression for the non-Gaussian cosmic-microwave-background (CMB) statistic I3 l defined recently by Ferreira, Magueijo, and Górski in terms of the slow-roll-inflation parameters ǫ and η. This result shows that a nonzero value of I3 l in COBE would rule out single-field slow-roll inflation. A sharp change in the slope of the inflaton potential could increase the predicted value of ...
